Lift-master/Chamberlain/Sears Gear Set Guide

There is only one type of gear set for all Lift-master, Sears and Chamberlain. This is a guide to help you see which one you have. All these openers are produced by Chamberlain, so most all the parts including the gear sets are interchangeable as long as you replace the existing gear with the same gear. The problem many of our customers ask us is which set is right for them. Well sometimes finding the model number is not very easy so I have came up with a sure fire way to tell which set you have. You will need access to the inside of the motor housing.

Part number #004A1425-------This kit is no longer made.If you have this type you will need to change your opener. This is the older of the two sets. This is used in openers that were produced before 1982. The motor cover is normally brown in color with one or two bulbs that stick out the front or bottom. There are many Sears openers like this. Below is a diagram of the drive gear. This is the easier part to look at and determine which you have.

THIS KIT IS NO LONGER MADE!!

Part number #041A2817-------This is the newer type of gear sets. This fits all Sears,Lift-master and Chamberlain openers made after 1984. Both Gear sets look close but look at the drive gear. This is where you can tell what type you have. This kit includes Drive gear,Motor gear, all pins, washers and bushings plus lube. Below is a diagram of this drive gear for this part number.

Part number #041C4220A-------This is the same gear kit as part number 041A2817 but also has included the drive shaft and top mounting plate. If you are going to service your unit, this is a more complete job. This kit includes Drive gear,Motor gear, all pins, washers and bushings plus lube, top mounting plate and drive shaft with sprocket.
